The South Cambs Conservative group has backed the administration’s decisive action to stop fly tipping in the district.
The administration has enforced fly tipping as a criminal offence. Illegally dumping rubbish can result in a Fixed Penalty Notice of up to £400, a court case with fines of up to £50,000, or a prison sentence.
Cllr Heather Williams, Leader of the Conservative group, declared her full support for the administration’s decision to prioritise the fly tipping crackdown as a key objective.
She said:
“Fly tipping is an absolute blight on our countryside. We continue to support stronger enforcement of those that wish to fill our wonderful landscape with litter and rubbish.
“We thank Darryl Preston, Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and all those involved in trying to help us tackle this very difficult issue.”
