Northstowe’s sports pavilion has finally been completed, with an opening date to be confirmed soon.
The phase one pavilion is one of several community facilities that South Cambridgeshire District Council is obliged to deliver for residents.
But Northstowe residents have had to wait longer than expected for these important facilities to be delivered.
Delays to the decision-making could have been avoided if Lib Dem leaders had followed recommendations from other councillors – as pointed out by South Cambs Conservatives.
The albeit delayed delivery of Northstowe’s community facilities nevertheless remain a welcome celebration for local councillors.
Cllr Tom Bygott (Conservative, Northstowe) said: “I am very pleased to see the sports pavilion completed. It will be an excellent addition to the local community facilities in Northstowe. I am looking forward to seeing it in use by a variety of local teams for a long time to come.”
The sports pavilion meets the specifications of Sport England, the Football Association and Rugby Football Union – featuring a 4G astroturf pitch, fully accessible changing facilities and a large clubroom with a commercial kitchen.
